Our painting brings a light flooded, serene palace interior to you: a large room with a sculpture on the mantlepiece, and three large paintings integrated into the panelling: Note how you are getting numerous works of art for the price of one! Executed in an impressionist way, the pictures within the picture are well worth looking at, they depict water basins and fountains, possibly from the palace grounds. Their brightness is juxtaposed beautifully with the gentle blue-green-grey of the panelling.
French in origin, the painting, is unsigned, and dates from the 1910s or 1920s. Presented in a more recent frame, the dimensions of the canvas alone are 54 x 65 cm.
