Kristen Olson Stone (b. 1967) is an internationally acclaimed artist known for her vibrant blend of impressionism and realism. Raised in a Maryland suburb of Washington, D.C., she was immersed in the arts from an early age, with a background in classical music before discovering her true passion for painting. Kristen studied at The University of Maryland, The Art Students League of New York, and several other prestigious institutions. Starting with portraiture, Kristen’s deep connection to nature led her to develop an impressionistic style. Her career took off early, selling her first painting just weeks after being accepted into a gallery. She gained representation in galleries across California and, later, in Hawaii, where she painted en plein air and worked on commercial projects for renowned companies. After 21 years in Hawaii, Kristen moved to California, where she found success both as an artist and instructor. She led workshops worldwide, became one of three artists represented by Gumps in San Francisco, and served as the artist-in-residence at Tommy Bahama Home Store in Newport Beach. She also worked with the Susan Kathleen Black Foundation in Wyoming alongside wildlife artist Robert Bateman. Kristen’s travels to New Zealand, Italy, London, and beyond have influenced her dynamic painting style. Her work has been selected for juried exhibitions, receiving numerous awards, and is part of private, corporate, and prestigious collections, including those of President and Mrs. Obama and the New Zealand Parliament. Now based in Palm Desert, California, Kristen continues to evolve as an artist, exploring new techniques in oil and watercolor. Her recent series of interior scenes, often featuring pets and wildlife, showcase her ability to capture warmth and personality through richly textured, expressive compositions.
