About the Item

Signed, verso, in Cyrillic, 'Аlexander Yurievich Tyutrin', (Russian, born 1951) dated 1982 and titled, 'Kazantipsky Bay'. Old attached label verso, from 'Art Salon-Shop', bearing artist's name and painting title and dated 'May 19, 1983'. Born in Leningrad, Tyutrin Alexander Yurievich graduated from the USSR Academy of Arts in 1969. From 1969 to 1975 he studied at the Painting faculty of the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture under Professor Neprintsev. In 1975, his thesis painting "Father" was accepted by the committee for display at Moscow's All-Union Exhibition in Moscow. From 1976 to 1978, Tyutrin was a postgraduate student of the Department of Painting. From 1978 to 1983, he taught drawing in the workshop of Professor Neprintsev. Tyutrin's works are exhibited at All-Union (1975-1976, 1987, Moscow). From 1979-1989, he was an elected member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. From 1985-1990, together with the artist Igor Fadin and by order of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Tyutrin created a series of historical canvases dedicated to the development of the Far East ("Yerofey Khabarov", "The First Alloy", "Construction of Khabarovsk", "Dersu Uzala"). Since 1992, Tyurtin has exhibited widely and with success at gallery exhibitons in Holland and England, Finland, Japan and the USA as well as continuing solo exhibitions at the Union of Artists in Leningrad. In 2003, he was elected a corresponding member of the Petrovsky Academy of Sciences and Arts. Since 2004, he has served as Associate Professor of the Graphics Department of the St. Petersburg State University of Technology and Design.
