About the Item
"Friday Morning in Sag Harbor" is an oil painting of a small village from the vantage point of a sidewalk on Main Street, painted en-plein-air by Amy Florence (b. 1989, England). A bright sunny day, situated outside the family-owned Emporium Hardware store. Benches line the sidewalk, the closes bench is open, in full sunlight, awaiting a tired passerby to take a restful seat. The next bench is occupied by a single figure, seeking respite in the shade, and the next bench furthest away is also occupied. The noses of cars are found on the left, parked along the boundary of the sidewalk. A traditional and handsome lamppost intersects the left half of the composition, an American Flag reaching from it's holster.
Framed in gold tradition frame made in Italy, 18 x 21.5 inches framed.

Amy Florence is a London born artist working out of her studio in Florence, Italy. She trained at the Charles H. Cecil Studios in Florence where she went on to teach the advanced painting and drawing programs for 5 years. In November 2014 she set up Studio Donatello. Now, she divides her time between painting and commissions.

Anthony Thieme was born in the Dutch port city of Rotterdam in 1888. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam, at the Royal Academy at the Hague, as an apprentice to George Hoecker, a well known stage designer in Düsseldorf, Germany, and to Antonio Mancini, an Italian Impressionist. After completing his studies, Thieme journeyed throughout Europe and South America, working in stage design to support his travels. Thieme first came to the United States in 1917 and initially worked as a set designer and book illustrator first in New York and later in Boston.
