AmyLou Jennings focuses less on architectural accuracy and more on atmosphere—bicycles, taxis, trees, and buildings are suggested through rhythm and colour, allowing the viewer’s eye to move fluidly across the composition.
The palette is richer and more nocturnal, combining deep blues, smoky greys, warm ambers, and glowing reds. Reflections shimmer across the wet pavement, while small points of yellow and white punctuate the scene like streetlights breaking through the evening air. Artist Biography:
Amylou Jennings' path to painting was anything but conventional. A former elite athlete, she broke her back while competing with the British paragliding team in the Czech Republic. After her recovery, she turned to flying — only to crash her plane. It was then she realised the thrill she’d been chasing through extreme sports needed to be found elsewhere.
Still an avid snowboarder, skateboarder, pilot, and competitive shooter, Amylou redirected her energy in 2023 toward a long-abandoned passion: oil painting. Having briefly studied art in the 1980s, she returned to painting during lockdown — a difficult, humbling process that sparked her commitment to master the medium.
Her breakthrough came under the personal mentorship of renowned painter Natalia Avdeeva ROI. Over two intensive years of one-on-one training, Amylou produced more than 300 works through a disciplined programme of plein air and studio studies, compositional training, and immersion in classical oil techniques. Natalia’s structured and intuitive approach helped her cultivate not only painterly skill but also clarity of vision, confidence, and a deep sensitivity to light and form.
The results speak for themselves. In 2024, two of Amylou’s paintings were selected for the Chelsea Art Society’s Summer Exhibition. That same year, she will present over 100 works in her debut solo show in Central London.
What began as a mentorship has grown into a fully fledged artistic practice. For Amylou Jennings, painting is no longer just a skill — it’s the grounded, enduring adventure she had been seeking all along.
