The Woods are Lovely, Dark and Deep is a contemporary floral drawing by Ann Bridges.An original landscape painting of Spring flowers in the local bluebell wood.
Ann Bridges, artist, is available for sale online and in our art gallery at Wychwood Art. Observational drawing is always the starting point for Ann Bridges’ paintings. Layers of oil-based inks are then applied directly to the picture surface using small hand held rollers. By wiping off areas that are not quite dry hidden colours are revealed and the richness of the image is gradually built up. Stencils and incised card printing plates are used to add or define detail. The images often combine an eye for detail with an imaginative interpretation. From 1995-1999 Ann studied Illustration at Yale College (Coleg Cambria) and the North Wales College of Art and Design (Glyndwr University) graduating with First Class Honours in Design. A two year placement at Chester Zoological Gardens as Artist in Residence provided her with her first studio and the opportunity to develop and broaden her practice. Ann has been awarded Arts Council of Wales funding for research projects carried out through visual diaries and sketchbooks and is a member of The Royal Cambrian Academy. Formerly based in Ruthin in North Wales Ann is currently living and working near Sevenoaks in Kent.
