About the Item

The painting "View of the Alps in the Evening" (canvas, oil, 30x40 cm) is not just a landscape from nature, painted en plein air in the small Swiss village of Gams, but an exquisite work that subtly conveys the poetry of evening light and the grandeur of the Alpine landscape. The composition is constructed in such a way that the viewer feels the presence in a space filled with the breath of the passing day. In the foreground is a rich green-yellow carpet of spring flowers, painted with energetic and free brushstrokes. This pulsation of color and light sets the tone for the entire work. The contrast between the cloudy sky and the rich colors of the meadows gives the composition depth and expressiveness. The warm and cold halftones of the sunset sky softly echo the shadows on the mountain slopes, creating the effect of light vibration. Smooth brushstrokes and a delicate palette give the work a lively texture and depth. Each fragment - from transparent clouds to silhouettes of peaks - breathes harmony. This work has a museum expressiveness and will be a valuable addition to the collection of both a connoisseur of the classical European school of painting and a modern interior, where sophistication and atmosphere are important. The painting is free, impressionistic, with an emphasis on color and light. The artist accurately conveys the atmosphere of the moment: cool air, soil moisture, the silence of a spring mountain evening. The painting is ideal for decorating a small wall in a classic or modern interior. The sides are painted dark. The painting is completely ready to hang on the wall and is equipped with hooks. Located in Riga, LV
Mountain landscape with a village. 1980. Cardboard, oil. 49,5x70cm In this work artist paid attention to infinite landscape depiction of mountains in summertime. Mountains are thought to contain divine inspiration in many forms, and are the focus of pilgrimages of transcendence and spiritual elevation. Mountains surpass ordinary humanity and extend towards the heavens. They symbolize constancy and permanence and at their peak signify the state of absolute consciousness. The visual components of color, form, line, shape, space, texture, and value in this painting works together as one story of peaceful moment next to nature. The village at the foot of the mountains is depicted in light brush strokes. Information about artist: Janis Lauva...

"At Sunrise in the Mountains" Oil Painting
By Ulrich Gleiter
Located in Denver, CO
Ulrich Gleiter's (EUR based) "At Sunrise in the Mountains" is an oil painting that depicts the textural hillside of a mountain landscape with blue skies overhead. Bio/Artist Statement: German-born artist Ulrich Gleiter (b. 1977) is noted for his landscapes. His style is sometimes reminiscent of German expressionism and the Russian impressionists. He first studied at the Dresden Academy of Arts and later at the Repin Academy in Saint Petersburg, Russia. His work has been recognized with awards in the USA and in Russia and been featured in books and magazines. "Ulrich Gleiter is a citizen of the world. Born in Saarbrücken, Germany, he pursued his undergraduate studies at Dresden’s Academy of Fine Arts, where he learned to paint with the bold, colorful strokes handed down from the early 20th-century German expressionists. Students there prioritized their individuality — no one but you could have made this picture, they were told. Gleiter then absorbed a different view of artistry during his exchange year at Moscow’s Surikov Institute, followed by six more years at the Repin Institute in St. Petersburg. Today Gleiter divides time between Germany, Russia, and the United States, where he has become much admired among plein-airists in such scenic places as Colorado, California, and Wyoming. In our era of diplomatic tensions, when Crimea and Russia appear regularly in the headlines, Gleiter feels a renewed appreciation for nature’s timelessness — for its inspiring capacity to rise above the ins-and-outs of man-made problems. Today, he says, “I often think about the history of an area where I am painting, about how many troubles and beautiful things may have happened there. Most importantly, I am humbled to observe how natural forces never stop moving.” Gleiter turns his searching eye not only to wilderness, but also to the banalities of urban life — to parked cars, the glinting sprawl of an automobile dealer’s lot, retail stores, and even cargo ships. There, too — as in his portraits, nudes, and still lifes — he manages to find abstracted beauty and emotional significance in the interactions of light, color, and air."
