Condition: As is normal with unframed works on paper there are some minor old creases or paper edge curls/ tears - all of which should be covered over or smoothed out once framed; generally very good and sound.
Provenance: as with all the works we have by this artist, it has come from the artists estate in France.
Description: This striking mid-century portrait by French artist Anne Marie Migette Perard features a dignified older woman wearing the iconic Alsatian traditional costume, including the elaborate coiffe headdress. Painted in soft tones, the sitter’s calm expression and richly adorned attire highlight the region’s deep cultural heritage and time-honored customs.
The large white bow-like headdress, a symbol of Alsace’s identity, is rendered with delicate highlights and lace detailing, adorned at the center with a light blue floral ornament.
