Condition: As is normal with unframed works on paper there are some minor old creases or paper edge curls/ tears - all of which should be covered over or smoothed out once framed; generally very good and sound.
Provenance: as with all the works we have by this artist, it has come from the artists estate in France.
Description: This vibrant pastel sketch by Anne Marie Migette Perard captures the instantly recognisable skyline of Rome, featuring the majestic Castel Sant’Angelo and the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica in the distance. Executed in soft tones of violet, rose, and ochre, the historic buildings are silhouetted against a pale blue sky, with the graceful arches of Ponte Sant’Angelo spanning the River Tiber in the foreground.
Castel Sant’Angelo, originally built as a mausoleum for Emperor Hadrian, has served many roles throughout history—from fortress to papal residence—and is one of Rome’s most iconic landmarks.
