Description: This vibrant and dynamic Mid-20th Century Post-Impressionist watercolour by Anne Marie Migette Perard is a celebration of colour, form, and natural abundance. Boldly composed, the still life features a striking bouquet of red tulips and yellow mimosa blossoms arranged in a rustic ceramic vase, set upon a swirling, decorative tabletop that dances with light and movement.
Perard’s expressive brushwork brings the flowers vividly to life—the red tulips, with their sculptural petals and inky black centres, burst forward with passion and energy. In contrast, the delicate yellow mimosa blooms float in feathery clusters, adding texture and softness to the composition. Lush green leaves stretch outward from the bouquet, creating a rhythmic balance between vertical lift and horizontal sweep.
The tabletop itself is rendered in flowing washes of green, ochre, grey, and mauve, guiding the eye around the scene in a continuous spiral. A cool turquoise and lavender backdrop frames the arrangement, heightening the sense of contrast and giving the composition a luminous, almost theatrical presence.
Executed in watercolour with tremendous confidence and freedom, this piece is a masterclass in composition and colour theory—ideal for collectors of expressive floral still lifes, mid-century modern design, or artworks that bring bold beauty and joy into a space.
