Description: This evocative 1976 watercolour by British artist Tony Herbert depicts a quiet coastal inlet near Nefyn, a small seaside town on the Llŷn Peninsula in North Wales. Known for its dramatic cliffs and rugged beauty, the coastline around Nefyn has long attracted artists, walkers, and nature-lovers for its windswept isolation and vast, unspoiled horizons. This evening view captures the fading light as it slips behind dark rock formations and pools of water, with hints of golden glow just catching the horizon line.
Herbert’s palette here is especially muted — a study in greys, olive greens, and soft violets — giving the entire piece a contemplative, almost haunting quality.
