About the Item
This piece was executed during Gravina's stay in Paris, where he packed in much detail. Figures are portrayed with utmost detail, allowing you to feel the passage of time effortlessly. We are instantly drawn back to the time of the 20th Century effortlessly as we discover all the incredible details. Couples walk in the park, as ladies with umbrellas walk in the hot sun. The flower vendor is found along the street, as the lush greenery is noted throughout. Gravina is best known for his characteristic views of Paris, the famous cafes of Paris, interior bistros, as well as his pastoral picnic scenes on the banks of the Seine. The painting is a pertinent example of this, as he championed his brushwork with much fascination and love for the city of lights. This piece is signed by the artist lower right and on verso, it comes housed in a beautiful classic style gold tone frame with hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed.

Antonio Gravina was born in Naples, Italy in 1934. He began painting at age fifteen, and was taught at the Art Institute in Naples, then studied at the Art Institute in Milan. Gravina’s style is said to contain a feel of the masterpieces created in the eighteenth century. Focusing on a variety of subjects, he is able to appeal to a wide spectrum of art collectors. Although he painted throughout Italy, particularly the southern coastline, Gravina is also best known for his characteristic views of Paris, the famous cafes of Paris, interior Bistros, as well as his pastoral picnic scenes on the banks of the Seine. Gravina's talent and devotion to his art were rewarded with admiration from both the public and critics alike. Antonio Gravina died in 2011, and his works have been displayed in numerous national and international exhibits in Italy, Germany, Australia, Canada, and the United States.
