An ethereal landscape by South Carolina based artist April Moffatt, this impressionist scene includes a dynamic use of color to depict the light reflecting off of the clouds that float over the tidal creek. Beautiful blue tones are balanced by a deep olive green and lighter pinkish hues to allow this work to both protrude and recede as if actually entering into the serene landscape.
Artist Commentary:
Winter in the Low Country is wonderful. The grasses turn golden colors and the dense green of summer slips into slumber, revealing more of the hard lines of landscape. Wildlife is active and easier to spy with slightly less vegetations. The mild days and coastal breezes bring rest to the soul.
About the Artist:
April is heavily influenced by the classical impressionists but strives to bring about elements of expressionism as well into her paintings. She uses color fearlessly and is always striving to "capture the light". April wants her paintings to invoke the feelings of her subjects and especially the wild feelings of being out of doors surrounded by the beauty of nature.
