Pagoda - Expressionistic Oil Painting with Stones
Bold and lively painting of a pagoda by Barbara Ann "Bobby" (Murray) Topping (American, 1920-1986). The structure of the pagoda stretches throughout the center of the canvas. It is rendered in splatter-like line work, with bold whites, reds, and blacks being the primary colors. The background is rendered in a pale grey with green and blue tones. Round stones are affixed throughout the pagoda, blending into the composition as they are also painted.

Signed in top left corner: "Barbara Topping"
Barbara Topping was born in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1920. She was a member of the Copley Society of Boston, the oldest art association in the United States. After living in Belchertown, Massachusetts for 21 years, Barbara Topping died in 1986.
