Charles Bertie Hall painted marine scenes, landscapes, and town scenes in both America, Uk, and Europe. He exhibited his paintings mostly in the UK from the mid 1980s
The artist has indicated this piece was painted 'En Plein air', or outdoors after a long walk near the Box Hill area of Surrey.
This piece was used as a reminder of the light, composition, and colors from that day to paint a much larger landscape that is in the artist's family collection.
He's best known by his friends as 'Bertie'.
His paintings have been collected all over the world with many being sold in America and the UK.
This piece recently came from the private collection of the artist's family.
The painting is signed lower left.
It has been framed in a Vintage English off-white frame.

Charles Bertie Hall painted scenes all over England, Europe, and America in a traditional Impressionist manner. He exhibited in London and many of his paintings are held in private collections. He was influenced by the work of Edward Seago, Edward Wesson, and other well-known Impressionist landscape painters.

Moroney was born on the 14th of February 1949 in South London. Of Anglo Irish parentage, his father was typical of his generation and worried about Ken’s artistic temperament which he viewed as effeminate. As a result, Ken took up boxing and won a gold medal for South London in his teens. His art continued to flourish with his trademark striking use of color. His main medium oils and he favors romantic subjects of Edwardian times. Ken has traveled extensively and spent 2 years working for major galleries in New York. The Royal Academy nominated him in 1976 as being one of the few promising young artists to emerge this century: "Ken Moroney has considerable talent, any painting purchased now can only be seen as a sound long term investment."
Ken Moroney's work now hangs in many important collections and has had paintings exhibited at The Royal Academy (London), and the Kline Galleries (Canada).
