Wonderful oil on board of a winter harbor scene, likely Maine. American/Canadian artist Charles E. Duncan Rodick. 10" x 14", signed lower right, in a period frame.
Mr. Rodick was a resident of Massachusetts, Maine, and Nova Scotia. Rodick was known for his landscapes, seascapes, marine, and urban
rural scene paintings, he was a member of the Portland Society of Art (now Portland Museum of Art). He exhibited in Boston, Philadelphia, and has works in numerous museums.
Charles Edward Duncan Rodick was a Canadian painter who lived most of his life in the USA. He was born in Kings County, Nova Scotia and immigrated to the USA sometime before 1897. He lived in Portland, Maine where he studied under Charles Lewis Fox. He moved to Boston around 1925 and lived there until 1940. His medium was oil paint and styles were Impressionism, Naturalism and Realism. Rodick often painted seascapes and marine scenes. He was a member of the Portland Society of Art.
