Signed and dated oil on canvas riverscape by French impressionist painter Charles-Victor Guilloux. This beautifully painter piece shows a view from the Pont Neuf looking towards the Pont des Arts with figures walking along the promenade surrounding the the Square du Vert Galant.

Charles Guilloux was born in Paris in 1866. He worked at the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris and was a self-taught artist. He exhibited his works from 1892. He exhibited at the Salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 1905, and at the Salon des Indépendants from 1911 to 1914. He died in Lormes in 1946.

Charles-Victor Guilloux
Charles-Victor Guilloux was a French Symbolist artist. An employee of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris, Guilloux was a self-taught artist. From 1891, his works were successfully received at the exhibitions of the Société des Artistes Indépendants and then at the Impressionists and Symbolists exhibitions at the gallery of Le Barc de Boutteville. His works are visible at the Musée d'Orsay, at the Musée départemental de l'Oise in Beauvais and at the Anne de Beaujeu Museum in Moulins.

Albert Jean Adolphe was known as a decorator, a portrait painter, and a landscape artist. He worked in oil and watercolor. Born in Philadelphia in 1865, he attended the Pennsylvania Museum School of Art. After graduation, he traveled to Europe and studied under Jean Leon Gerome and James Whistler at the Ecole des Beaux Artes in Paris and under DeVriendt in Antwerp.
Adolphe was a member of the Graphic Sketch Club and the Philadelphia Art Club. In 1894, he was awarded a honorable mention at the Columbian Exposition in Chicago and in 1899 he received an honorable mention in Paris. From the Philadelphia Art Club he won the Stotesbury Prize. He did decorative work at the Marlborough-Blenheim Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
For many years, Adolphe showed in Chicago, St. Louis, and in Philadelphia. From 1898 to 1902, he exhibited at the Paris Salon and later in Antwerp and Munich.
