Cheryl Clinton's 'Woodland Water 2' is a 36 x 36 x 2 inch fresh contemporary take on landscape painting in acrylic on canvas in deep rich browns and blues, and is part of the artist's series of water paintings inspired by the way the variation of color and transparency of a brook beside the artist's home changes dramatically over the course of each season. A fresh, contemporary take on landscape painting, the painting reflects the colors of New England’s seasonal transitions, and the evokes the smell of earth saturated with rain. The square painting is 36 x 36 x 2 in., unframed, and signed on the reverse.

Cheryl Clinton
Cheryl Clinton’s paintings are deeply rooted in the magic of light within the landscape, guided by a desire to make visible the mystery of intangible forces. Through a process of incrementally capturing shifting light and shadow, she evokes distinct moments in time. Her work draws parallels between the cyclical rhythms of nature and the evolution of personal experience, creating a contemplative space that bridges the seen and the unseen. Working intuitively, Clinton engages in a dynamic interplay between concept and material—a call-and-response process that fosters an ecosystem of creative discovery. Her goal is to craft visual spaces that embody spirit and act as passages between our world and one that may exist within or beyond it. Clinton holds a BFA in Painting from Massachusetts College of Art and an MFA in Visual Design from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Her work has been exhibited at institutions including the Danforth Museum in Framingham, MA, and the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum in Boston. Her paintings are held in the corporate collections of Meditech (Framingham, MA) and New England Bio Labs (Frankfurt, Germany), as well as numerous private collections in the U.S. and abroad. She is a founding member of Fountain Street Gallery.
