French late 20th century impresssionist oil on canvas painting of grape vines in a landscape by Christian Dyr. Signed bottom left, titled, signed and with an exhibition number to the rear stretchers. The canvas is on a fine, good quality stretcher with 'keys'.
A very charming view of the grape vines in a typical south of France landscape in the region of Tricastin. Dyr has captured the moment in late summer, after the grape harvest when the vines no longer have their leaves but are like sculptures in the landscape. The leaves in the background have changed colour but winter is not yet fully here and they remain on the trees. The sky is not the clear blue of summer but the clouds of autumn have appeared. A lovely, evocative painting the artist using colours and the paint itself to create an almost abstract impressionist landscape.
The Tricastin is a natural and historic region in the southern Rhône valley of southeastern France comprising the southwestern portion of the Drôme department and the northwestern portion of Vaucluse and centred on the town of Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux.
