About the Item
As the light falls towards the end of the day, the forest grows ever darker. This moody, serene landscape is by Ciba Karisik. Known for his highly realistic work, the artist has captured a forest during fall when the leaves are just turning to golden yellow and brown. The deep blue of the sky and a soft yellow-green meadow provides a lovely contrasting backdrop to the autumn colours. The forest floor is a melange of colours—wildflowers in yellow, cornflower blue, and white.

In 1985, he completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree in painting at the Sarajevo Academy of Fine Art. In 1992, Karisik immigrated to Canada where he continued his career. Since then, he has produced a significant body of work and exhibited regularly in solo and group exhibitions. His paintings are held in international corporate and private collections including those of Brian Mulroney, Alex Trebek, Martin Short, Martha Stewart and U2’s Bono.

Ciba Karisik
Ciba Karisik was born in Sarajevo in 1959. As a grandson of two artists, he revealed his creative inheritance at an early age. Invited to attend the Sarajevo Academy of Fine Art, Karisik completed his bachelor's and then his master’s degrees in painting in 1985. He was an established artist when war erupted in Bosnia in 1992 that eventually forced him to abandon his homeland to immigrate with his family to Canada. Since 1996, Karisik has produced a steady body of work, exhibiting in solo and group exhibitions every year. His paintings are in private and corporate collections in Canada, the U.S., England and Europe.
