About the Item
This painting was created from life on Oahu’s North Shore during the summer, on an exceptionally hot and bright day. At this time of year, colors appear almost unnaturally intense — a distinctive quality of Hawaiian light that heightens contrasts and gives the landscape remarkable saturation.
The ocean appears especially striking in such conditions. Its deep emerald-green water contrasts with the bright white crests of waves breaking against the rocks. In summer, this spot attracts many swimmers. In calm water, people observe colorful tropical fish and coral formations among the coastal rocks and reef structures. In winter, however, the shoreline becomes dangerous and inaccessible: powerful shore-break waves, well known on Hawaii’s North Shore, crash against the rocks, making this place completely impassable.
The painting was developed in an impressionistic manner and preserves the immediacy of direct observation from nature.
"In reality, I returned to this location over several days, working repeatedly with the same motif, and completed the final details later in the studio," said Daria about the process of artwork creation.
The work is executed in oil on canvas mounted on board and finished with a protective varnish. The painting integrates naturally into both contemporary and classic interiors.

Daria Molostnova lives and works in Hawaii, where she discovered the true beauty of the surrounding world. Her paintings reflect the local reality, expressed through her personal cultural code. A graduate of the Russian State University of Design and Applied Arts named Stroganoff, she earned her master's degree, blending the traditions of classical education with a contemporary artistic perspective.
Daria grew up in a family of professional artists, her mother being a renowned designer and lead doll artist of the Soviet Union. Since 1997, Daria has been a member of the Moscow Union of Artists, and since 1998, a member of the International Union of Journalists.
She has taught at the Russian-Italian Art School Perotti and the Correspondence People's University of Arts. She has conducted numerous workshops both in Russia and abroad, as well as team-building activities for companies such as Harpers Bazaar, Mercedes, and Coca-Cola.
Daria has participated in international artist residencies in such countries as Bosnia, France, and Italy. She is a participant in many Russian and international art fairs, competitions, and exhibitions. Currently, she collaborates with galleries in Hawaii and California.
Her works are held in several Russian museums, as well as in private collections both in Russia and abroad. 2025 her painting "Big Storm" won the first prize in the art competition of the Plein Air Magazine in US.
