About the Item

Abstract oil painting on canvas and resin. This moody piece has a lot of depth, literally! The layers of paint and resin are built upon each other, the upper layers casting shadows below. The glossy resin over the darker surface also creates a reflective surface. Just off of center is a brighter patch of cerulean emerging from the shades of black and dark grey. This piece can be hung horizontally or vertically. When hung vertically, the word "FUCK" can be read more easily at the bottom of the composition, when horizontal, the lines of the letters hide amongst the stems of the black roses. As a vertical piece it could almost be a landscape at deepest dusk, the last light creeping out of the sky, framed by silhouetted trees and vines. Unframed dimensions 24 in x50 in Framed dimensions 25.75 in x 52.25 in Darius Yektai was born in Southampton NY, in 1973. He lives and works out of his home and studio in Sag Harbor. He grew up in a cultural home of art and artists, with his Greek-American Mother, and his Father, Manoucher Yektai, an Iranian who emigrated to the US after the Second World War, was a prominent Hamptons AbEx painter. Darius has picked up some traits from his father but pushes even further into what is now completely his-own. Darius' most recent body of work is bright, colorful, with oil and acrylic paints laid on thick. He's creating sculptural paintings that can't be read from left to right, they need to be examined from surface to base, from section to section, and then overall as an encompassing whole. The Language of Flowers and Silent Things — in four parts
By Frédéric Choisel
Located in Burlingame, CA
The Language of Flowers and Silent Things — in four parts with luminous oil on linen. Each panel is 25 1/2 x 19 1/2 inches. Hanging in a quad the overall dimension is 52 1/2 x 41 inches. Drama and depth at play in this sophisticated painting in aubergine and plum on natural raw Belgian linen. Thin layers of oil paint, create a shimmering and provocative work that glistens, shimmers, and changes with the light of day and seasons. French American Frédéric Choisel, is inspired by the cities and countrysides of France, New York, and California's Bay Area. Like Gerhard Richter, with a background in hyperrealism and shift into abstraction, Choisel is taking us — the viewers of his work — along with him on a visceral journey. Beautiful, rich, highest quality materials used throughout. Artist signed, titled and dated verso. Condition excellent. The four paintings can hang in a quad as pictured or four in a row.
