River Landscape with Water Mill in the Lake District of England with Lush Trees, Vintage Oil Painting by British Artist, David James. Dramatic skies and beautiful reflections are a feature of this landscape and seascape artist.
Art measures 36 x 20 inches

The painting depicts a serene and picturesque landscape featuring a small, rustic watermill situated at the edge of a calm, reflective body of water. The watermill has a sloped roof and is surrounded by lush greenery. A couple of small boats with sails are docked near the mill, adding a tranquil maritime element to the scene.
The background showcases misty hills covered in dense, soft foliage, suggesting early morning or late afternoon light. The sky is painted with soft hues of pink and orange, indicating a peaceful sunrise or sunset. The reflection of the watermill and boats in the still water enhances the tranquil and idyllic atmosphere of the scene. The painting is framed in a dark wooden frame with a white inner border.
David James was born in London in 1944 and moved to Outer London in the fifties. Educated at Hampton School, David James howed an early aptitude for art and won school and national prizes and competitions. James attended Twickenham College of Art from 1962 to 1966 gaining an Intermediate Diploma in Arts and Crafts. With a speciality in wood engraving, three editions of James' prints were sold in 1964. He obtained a National Diploma in Art and Design in 1966. David James began exhibiting at open-air shows in 1963 whilst still at Art School and was immediately successful.

Nowadays, much of the work by David James is sold abroad; there are examples of James paintings in all European countries and North America, South America, China, Russia, Japan, India, New Zealand, Australia, the Middle East and Greenland.
David currently lives in Sussex on the coast, within reach of the South Downs. He is married to an artist and has three children. Much of the inspiration for the work executed by James is drawn from the Lake District, Devon and Cornwall, and the Welsh Countryside. David has exhibited his works at the Royal Academy and in leading provincial galleries. A wide range of subjects painted by David is available including landscape, marine and still life paintings.
