This elegant pair of river landscapes by David Morgan forms a perfectly balanced diptych, each panel echoing the other like a conversation across the water. Set within richly moulded gilt frames with oval apertures, the scenes open onto a tranquil English river edged with wildflowers and reeds, where swans glide slowly across the mirrored surface.
In the left composition, the eye follows the gentle bend of the river toward a distant cottage and a scatter of grazing animals, the sky filled with soft summer clouds. In the right panel, tall trees and a sunlit meadow lead the view deeper into the distance, while a family of swans animates the foreground. The two works can be hung close together as a continuous panorama, or slightly spaced to create a more architectural presence on the wall.
Morgan’s precise handling of detail, from the reflections on the water to the delicate wildflowers along the bank, gives these paintings a refined, almost jewel like quality. Highly decorative and very collectable as a matched pair, they bring a sense of calm pastoral luxury to any traditional or country house interior.
Signed by the artist in each lower right oval. Framed in original ornate gilt frames that beautifully complement the warm tones of the paintings.
