About the Item
The painting depicts an old courtyard in St. Petersburg in winter. It is a closed courtyard-well, from which the exit to the outside is through an arch on the right. Behind the iron gates in the distance we see the Neva covered with ice and snow and distant houses on the opposite bank. The house depicted is a typical urban development of the 19th century. Nowadays it is dilapidated and in need of repair. However, this dilapidation creates a poetic image of antiquity. The plaster has peeled off in some places, exposing the brickwork. The front door is covered with half-torn announcements. The canopy above it is covered with a cap of snow and icicles. On the ground, also covered with snow, there are traces of car wheels and old things, furniture, taken out by the new owners who moved into the old apartment. The painting conveys the mood that often arises in the former capital of the Russian empire, aged, decaying, but retaining its former beauty and dignity.

Dmitry Evtushenko graduated from the Moscow Secondary Art School at the Surikov Institute and the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In art, the artist follows traditions multiplied by impressions from life. He never stops improving his skills and artistic language. Dmitry has participated in several dozen group and solo exhibitions in Russia and Germany. The artist's works are in private collections in the USA, Canada, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Ukraine, Russia, etc. A number of portraits are in the collection of the A. A. Bakhrushin Theatre Museum. In 2007, the publishing house "White City" released a monograph with reproductions of his paintings in the series "Masters of Painting".
