About the Item
The painting depicts a short winter day before the New Year, when it is getting dark early. This is an old town in the south of Germany. But it could also be Austria or Switzerland. In the distance, the city is surrounded by a range of mountains, partly covered with snow. It is snowing at this very moment, falling on the asphalt and melting right away. The streets are empty, as people are at home preparing to celebrate the New Year, setting the table and waiting for guests. Only the light is still on in the building on the left, where the cafe on the first floor has not closed. The tram is approaching a stop where no one is waiting for it, lighting the way with its headlight. The light is reflected in the wet asphalt. This motif inspired the artist with a premonition of something new and good that should begin in just a few hours next year. The author wanted to convey this mood in his painting.
The painting is without a frame. The side is not painted. It can decorate any space: a living room, an office, a nursery, and create a coziness associated with this pre-New Year feeling.

Dmitry Evtushenko graduated from the Moscow Secondary Art School at the Surikov Institute and the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In art, the artist follows traditions multiplied by impressions from life. He never stops improving his skills and artistic language. Dmitry has participated in several dozen group and solo exhibitions in Russia and Germany. The artist's works are in private collections in the USA, Canada, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Ukraine, Russia, etc. A number of portraits are in the collection of the A. A. Bakhrushin Theatre Museum. In 2007, the publishing house "White City" released a monograph with reproductions of his paintings in the series "Masters of Painting".
