A substantial evening seascape showing dramatic breakers rolling in towards the the rocky coast near Point Lobos, California.
This plein-air Impressionist painter first attended the University of California in Los Angeles and subsequently studied with Joshua Meador. Over the course of a long career, he has exhibited widely and with success and has been the recipient of numerous medals, prizes and juried awards. Edward Norton Ward was a charter member of the Society of American Impressionists; he is also a member of the California Art Club and has served as president of the Carmel Art Association. Much of Ward's work seeks to capture the wild beauty of the Monterey area, where he makes his home, but he also travels further afield, including to the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Montana, Taos and Santa Fe in his search for fresh subjects and new perspectives. In addition to his career as a fine artist, he has also been a teacher and is the author of "First Impressions-Sketching Nature in Watercolor". We are pleased to offer a dynamic, light-filled coastal scene dating to the artist's middle period.
