About the Item
This plein air oil painting captures the serene beauty of the rolling green hills near Gruyère, Switzerland — a region known not only for its world-famous cheese but also for its idyllic countryside. The winding path draws the viewer’s eye through lush meadows toward a quaint village with a red church steeple nestled among the hills, while the distant mountains rise under a dramatic sky of layered clouds.
Executed in oil on canvas, the work blends impressionistic brushwork with a classical sense of composition and light. The artist worked directly from nature, focusing on the atmospheric harmony between land and sky, and the rhythm of the landscape. The result is a luminous, peaceful scene evoking the quiet majesty of the Swiss countryside.
Painted on location, this piece reflects the immediacy of plein air practice — where light changes swiftly and decisions must be made intuitively, lending the painting its vitality and freshness.
Elena Bulatova is a Munich-based painter working primarily in oil, often in the alla prima technique. Born in Moscow, Russia in 1981, she received early training in a children’s art school, laying the foundation for a lifelong dedication to painting.
Her artistic practice is rooted in academic traditions, yet she continuously seeks freedom and individuality in her work. Bulatova often paints en plein air, working directly from life to capture the essence of a moment with immediacy and sensitivity. She is especially drawn to subjects found in her everyday surroundings—landscapes, people, portraits, and the human figure—exploring the natural beauty and quiet poetry of the visible world.
Over the past twenty years, Bulatova has developed her skills through a combination of self-directed study and mentorship with experienced artists. She has studied in diverse settings, including traditional icon painting in Moscow and the AktHof in Munich. Currently, she is enrolled as an external student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, deepening her engagement with classical technique and contemporary practice.
The gallery guarantees the uniqueness and high quality of this work of art, confirmed by a certificate of authenticity. By purchasing paintings by Elena Bulatova, you make a smart investment, as the price of her paintings is growing every year.

Elena Bulatova (1981) is a Russian artist living in Munich, Germany. After fifteen years of painting dedicatedly and hermetically - alternately self-taught and under the guidance of older painters - Elena Bulatova wishes to share her practice with the world. In her constant self-study, Bulatova has sought instruction from a variety of sources - from the Eastern Orthodox icon painting school in Moscow to the Academy of Fine arts in Munich. She is currently enrolled externally at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich to better understand the modern side of the art world. She believes that the true value of art lies in the meditative process that goes into creating such a work and in the years of mastery that a person can undertake and overcome to become a master in any field. The themes of her work are: nature, animals and authentic human beauty.

I paint because it’s the best way I know to communicate, study, and observe creative work that’s how Texas painter V…. Vaughan (the first initial stands for Virginia) describes her drive to create fine art. “It’s a calling,” she says of her life’s work, which has taken several twists and turns but has, nevertheless, led her down the path toward fulfillment.
A lifelong Texan, Vaughan grew up in the Austin area and today makes her home in Round Rock, a suburb of the capital city. As a child, she exhibited a love of making art and played the role of the creative one among the seven children in her family, eventually working for several of her siblings as a sign painter and designer. Her parents forever encouraged her to appreciate and mine her passion, instilling in her that it was not simply a passing fancy, but an innate gift. “It was always conveyed to me that this was a God-given talent,” she says. Somehow that made me feel like it was something I was supposed to do. It gave me permission to pursue it.
Vaughan attended college on an athletic scholarship, though she filled her schedule with art classes and subsequently secured an internship at an advertising agency. That introduction to the corporate world set her off in a new direction—she left school to parlay the summer job into a full-time position. She continued to work as a commercial artist for many years after that, winning several prestigious ADDY Awards and working on high-profile accounts for Samsung, the Lady Bird Johnson...
