Since Emanuel Schulze also works as a stage designer, he has a special interest in space planning, which he incorporates into his artwork. He argued that the ability to structure and confine our living world through the use of geometric shapes makes them fundamental. The second main component of his work, the landscaped spaces, are elaborate with a lot more experimentation and without precise planning, leaving more room for imagination. Emanuel Schulze
Emanuel Schulze’s paintings plunge the viewer into a dreamlike world in which architecture and landscape are intimately linked. Also a scenographer, the artist is particularly interested in the planning of space. In his view, geometric shapes are essential because they structure and delimit our living world. Landscapes, on the other hand, are worked on with much more experimentation and without exact planning, leaving room for the imagination. These dreamlike interpretations of landscapes invite the viewer to contemplate and introspect. The colours chosen by the artist, sometimes bright, sometimes pastel, contribute to the meticulous construction of his paintings and form an integral part of them. “In order to bring closer the architecture and the landscapes, it is necessary to work on the harmony of the colours. The colour is subordinate to the painting, but it is also a central element of the atmosphere of my work.”
