Very beautiful 19th century frame in carved and gilded wood decorated with laurels
Born in Blois (France), Emile Vernon first studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Tours (First prize for drawing in 1888) before going to Paris where he entered William Bouguereau's studio.
Emile Vernon painted portraits of women and landscapes which are all allegories in fact, in a style typical of the “Belle-Epoque” (“Spring”, “The Flower Garden”, “A Summer Rose”).
