Evan Jones is a painter based in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting from SCAD Atlanta and has exhibited throughout the United States.
Jones's latest exhibition, "Destruction Derby Dreamland," follows upon his solo show from 2021, “Country Store." Here is how one art critic described that exhibition: "Country Store is a very funny celebration of the tropes and fixations of rural Southern life that blessedly avoids using a cudgel of irony or snark to make its points. This is an artist who can enjoy the excesses of homemade advertisements, primitive folk art painting styles and alternative history while offering a sharp-witted read on global art history mashed up with his countrified Americana...But more than that, Jones’ paintings are phantasmagoric fever dreams of alternative history that hilariously collide military and sports heroics and the romance of masculine adventuring in a tipped hat to European history painting. Jones then blends that painting tradition with the lowbrow American iconography of Nascar heroes Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt, tattoo art, Black Cat firecrackers, and cheap Olympia beer. Hilarity ensues...I haven’t had this much fun in an art gallery in ages."

Represented by George Billlis Gallery. The bold flowers and repeating geometric patterns in this series of paintings are lushly modeled in oil paint, and are coupled with the use of inlaid wood. Surrounding the colorful and whimsical bouquets and garlands is a border of complimentary colors rife with kaleidoscopic floral images to further entice the eye. Influences of Persian miniatures and French Baroque are prevalent, as well as traditional floral painting which was used to document nature’s beauty. The artist states, “By using subject matter that is historically decorative and painterly, I seek to explore the medium’s more ethereal content.” The paintings become visually intense and hallucinatory as different varieties of flowers and leaves dance and intertwine in the geometry of the surrounding patterns.
