About the Item

This 16.75" x 20.5" oil on canvas painting is by contemporary artist, Eve Cornejo. This landscape painting captures a secluded natural setting rendered in a realist style. At its center lies a shallow, green-tinged body of water, whose glassy surface reflects the surrounding foliage with subtle distortion. Scattered throughout the composition are large, smooth white boulders, their rounded forms modeled with careful attention to light and shadow. The foreground is densely packed with vegetation, painted in loose, expressive brushwork. The subdued earth-toned palette consists of mossy greens, warm grays, and muted whites. The painting is encased in a golden frame. As long as Eve can remember, she was always drawn to art. As a small child she loved to draw people and animals on sheets of paper. For her it was a way of self-expression, storytelling and using her creativity. While art was always a part of Eve’s life, she began to take painting seriously the last few years. While she has degrees in engineering and accounting, she started painting with acrylic paints while staying at home with her young children. She experimented with different mediums and focused on oil which is now her primary medium. Eve has furthered her art education with many workshops with well established artists. She paints variety of subjects, but her favorites are people. Every person has a story and as a visual artist she is excited to be able to interpret those stories through her artwork.
