Giuseppe Antonio Pianca (1703-1762) was an Italian painter, mainly active in north-western Italy. His style is characterised by a full-bodied, sanguine touch and by brush strokes of robust impasto. Placed on the bank of a tumultuous torrent are an infant dressed in a garish cerulean robe and a goat with a hairy grey coat. The pictorial draftsman ship and the sensitivity of the brush strokes are clearly reminiscent of the work of Giuseppe Antonio Pianca, an artist with a strong popular taste.
