Imagine standing on a gentle rise at day’s edge. Before you, the world unfolds in sweeping fields of gold and pale green, brushed with faint violets and rose. The air is dry and fragrant, humming with quiet. There are no trees to break the horizon, only the soft, fluid rhythm of hills stretching into infinity.
The sky above is expansive — a veil of powder blue and milk-white, shifting almost imperceptibly in tone. The brushwork is loose and meditative: long horizontal gestures that seem to follow the breath of the wind. The artist’s hand is sure yet tender, allowing color to blend naturally, so that light itself becomes the subject.
The foreground is warmer — ochre, moss, and hints of rust — suggesting the closeness of sun-warmed earth. But the further your gaze drifts, the more the world fades into memory. Gloria Sáez
Gloria Sáez is an Avila, Spain-based contemporary oil painter and educator whose paintings are inspired by nature's landscapes, color relationships, reflections and the play of textures.
Sáez began her training at the School of Fine Arts in Avila, Spain, and later graduated from the University of Salamanca with honors in painting, sculpture and printmaking. She was awarded a Sócrates-Erasmus scholarship to study at the Escola Superior de Tecnología, Gestáo in Portugal. In 2003 Sáez became an honorary professor and collaborator at the School of Fine Arts at La Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She has had exhibitions throughout Europe, Africa and the United States.
