Born in Beighton, Sheffield, Grace Evans (née Larner) discovered her passion for both art and performance at an early age. After studying at Chesterfield Art School, she earned a place at the prestigious Slade School of Fine Art, University of London, where she obtained her Diploma in Fine Arts in 1948.
Following her studies, Grace pursued a career in teaching while continuing to develop her own artistic practice. Her life with husband John Evans, an Army officer, took her across Germany, Cyprus, and the UK, where she exhibited her work and engaged in amateur theatre.
Throughout her career, Grace’s work was showcased at renowned institutions, including the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the United Society of Artists, the Royal Society of British Artists, and the New English Art Club. A member of the Industrial Painters group, she remained dedicated to her craft, producing a diverse body of work that reflected her travels, experiences, and deep artistic vision.
