About the Item
Jacques II is a unique painting by French contemporary artist Guillaume Chansarel. The painting is made with ink and acrylic on old book pages mounted on canvas, dimensions are 65 × 81 cm (25.6 × 31.9 in).
The artwork is signed, sold unframed and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
This artwork portrays a nocturnal scene from Guillaume Chansarel’s Paris Night series, capturing a tranquil street corner in the French capital. At the center of the composition stands a corner building with large, gridded shop windows, its façades rendered in warm, neutral, earthy tones that dominate the palette.
Dedicated to exploring the nocturnal atmosphere of Paris, Chansarel’s series investigates the interplay of urban light and the hidden geometry within the city’s architecture and streets. Through meticulously controlled lines and a refined use of light and contrast, he achieves a striking sense of depth and perspective.
His intentional use of a limited palette, largely composed of neutral hues, enhances the clarity and immediacy of the visual experience. Focused on the life and structure of megacities, Chansarel employs his figurative style to document the urban landscape—capturing its graphic essence with the same precision and spontaneity that a photographer attains in a single shutter click.

Guillaume Chansarel (Guiyome)
Through his compositions, Guillaume Chansarel aims to capture the soul and the spirit of a place. He catches the essence of a city and depicts an atmosphere on the canvas by immortalizing a single street corner. He is interested in Architecture, but also in its graphical representation, in the constructions of perspective and how perspective can deepen an architectural subject. The originality of Guillaume Chansarel’s work also derives from his use of pages from old books as a raw material for his paintings. At first used at random, this painting medium is now a distinctive element of his work. “I especially enjoy working on mega-cities. I like the idea that the city totally overtakes me, thinking it has been there for a long time, it was there and it’s still growing.“
