About the Item

Known for his bird paintings and western scenes Michaelis is most famous for his birds of prey book. Alongside art, he was a well known ornithologist, and had several falcons as his own who he would study, write about, and use to hunt. Most of his paintings started as illustrations from his books done on a larger scale. And most are educational, depicting the birds with great detail and care. This piece falls into the more western / landscape side of the artist. Signed, Oil on canvas
