About the Item
A wonderfully rich beach scene done in Holland in the Mid-20th Century depicting figures in the sand. Some figures are by the water as kids play in the distance with a bicylist as well. The impressionist details are greatly admired as the sun shines on the water beautifully. This painting is signed lower right and comes housed in a simple contemporary silver wood frame with hanging wire on verso.

The Frisian-born artist Henk Gorter worked from 1951 in Amsterdam and followed courses at the National Institute to training of drawing teachers and the State Academy of fine arts. The artist had a strong preference for colors and for nature. At the same time, he was also someone who could properly vary in style. Thus he could surprise his audience during exhibitions sometimes. The work of Gorter includes mainly portraits, still life, landscapes and figures. Gorter was a member of the Association Sint Lucas and the Professional Association of visual artists BBK in Amsterdam.
PROVENANCE: Lilac Gallery Collection. This original artwork is signed by the artist lower right, includes a Certificate of Authenticity issued by the Gallery. The piece will be stamped from Lilac Gallery on its verso.
