Henri Fehr (1890–1974) was a Swiss painter and graphic designer based in Geneva, known for his figurative compositions, portraits, and Art Deco–influenced works.
Born in Geneva on April 2, 1890, Fehr initially pursued engineering but soon shifted to art, studying at the École des Beaux-Arts and the School of Industrial Arts in Geneva. He later continued his training at the Académie Julian in Paris, where he was exposed to contemporary European artistic movements.
Fehr's artistic style was marked by a blend of classical technique and modern sensibility, often reflecting the influence of Art Deco. His body of work includes portraits, urban scenes, and landscapes, with a particular emphasis on the human figure. Notable works include Young Girl with Lipstick, which captures a moment of quiet introspection, and Portrait d'homme, an oil painting demonstrating his skill in character study.
In addition to his easel paintings, Fehr contributed to public art projects, such as the fresco in the choir of the Thônex church near Geneva.
Fehr's works have been featured in various exhibitions and are held in private collections. His art continues to be appreciated for its technical proficiency and the subtle interplay of traditional and modern elements.
Henri Fehr passed away in Geneva on December 24, 1974, leaving behind a legacy that reflects the cultural and artistic currents of early 20th-century Switzerland.
