About the Item

Hermann Haider war einer der wichtigsten Künstler der Linzer Jahre der Galerie und die Beziehung mit ihm ging weit über eine rein berufliche Zusammenarbeit hinaus. Meinem Vater gelang es, den Künstler zu einer lokalen Größe zu positionieren und ein Preisniveau aufzubauen, das seiner Qualität entsprach. Der Sturm in Steyregg zeigt eine expressive Landschaft in der Nähe des Ateliers des Künstlers. Der namengebende Sturm zeigt sich im stark gebogenen Baum im Vordergrund der das Bild auch deshalb dominiert, weil der Hintergrund stark abstrahiert ist. Das zu erkennende Gebäude ist nicht mehr als ein beiges Rechteck mit angedeutetem Dach, dahinter ein grauer Hügel. Der Sturm durchzieht aber auch malerisch das gesamte Bild. Der Strich geht einheitlich in die Windrichtung nach links und der Farbauftrag ist gestisch und heftig. Selbst das Licht kommt von links und taucht die Szenerie in ein mystisches Licht. Durch gekonnte Reduktion und sichere, gestische Pinselführung entsteht eine im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes bewegende Landschaftsmomentaufnahme.
