Provenance Acquired by the gallery directly from the artist. UNFRAMED: 18" x 24" FRAMED: 27.75" x 33.625" x 1.75" Signed "LeGassick" in lower right. Artist Statement "The mountains are my sanctuary, and nowhere is as cherished to me as the Sierra Nevada Range in California. Taking many mule packing trips to the mid-range section, the High Sierra, I was at first drawn to the most obviously dramatic spires and peaks. Now, however, I appreciate the less spectacular but often just as dramatic nooks and crannies of the area. These scenes are not as easy to find and often require a lot of arduous boulder hopping, which thus inspired my title for this piece." – Jean LeGassick Exhibited California Art Club's 111th Annual Gold Medal Exhibition at Bowers Museum, Santa Ana, California, July 17 - September 11, 2022 Published Catalogue, California Art Club's 111th Annual Gold Medal Exhibition at Bowers Museum, Santa Ana, California, 2022

Untitled (Snow-capped Mountains) – Grand Teton National Park, c. 1930s
By Marion Kavanaugh Wachtel
Located in Pasadena, CA
Provenance Consigned to the gallery by private collectors Signed "Marion Kavanagh Wachtel" lower right Description Marion Kavanagh was a pupil of William Keith in San Francisco who, upon learning of her move to Southern California, urged her to contact Pasadena artist Elmer Wachtel. A romance blossomed and the two were married in 1904. During their marriage, out of respect for her husband, Marion Wachtel painted in watercolor, giving Elmer Wachtel the honor of painting in the more “serious” medium of oil. After the untimely passing of her husband and a period of grieving, Marion took up oil painting in 1930, working both en plein air and in the studio. This masterful plein air painting is a poetic interpretation of the snow-capped mountains in Grand Teton National Park...

Boulder Canyon, Colorado Autumn Landscape Oil Painting by Irene Fowler, 1940s
By Irene Fowler
Located in Denver, CO
This vintage 1940s oil on canvas painting by Colorado artist Irene Fowler (1884–1969) beautifully captures the vibrant autumn landscape of Boulder Canyon. With a masterful eye for color and atmosphere, Fowler presents majestic mountain peaks framed by glowing Aspen trees in their fall brilliance, their leaves shimmering in radiant shades of gold, orange, and red. The scene reflects both the serenity and dramatic character of Colorado’s rugged wilderness, offering a timeless vision of the Rocky Mountains. Fowler’s keen observation of light and painterly brushwork bring the landscape vividly to life, evoking the crisp mountain air and golden glow of a Colorado autumn day. Her ability to balance natural grandeur with intimate detail makes this work an exceptional example of early 20th-century Western American painting. The painting itself measures 22 ¼ x 18 ¼ inches and is presented in a custom gilded frame with outer dimensions of 25 ¼ x 21 ¼ x 1 ½ inches, enhancing its elegance and making it ready for display. Signed by the artist in the lower right corner. About the Artist: Irene Fowler (1884–1969) was a pivotal figure in Denver’s early 20th-century art community. Born in Illinois, she later settled in Colorado, where she became both a respected public school teacher and a founding member of the Denver Artists Guild (now the Colorado Artists Guild). Best known for her en plein air landscapes, Fowler captured the beauty of Colorado’s mountains, Aspen groves, and mining towns with an extraordinary sensitivity to light, color, and atmosphere. She exhibited widely throughout her career, including at the Schlier Gallery, Chappell House, University Club...
