About the Item
This oil on panel painting by James Cobb depicts an adobe house in the backdrop of the New Mexican landscape. The adobe home is shaded in the reds and oranges of the late afternoon light. Cobb painted this house while working at his studio and home in Taos, New Mexico drawing inspiration from the property behind his home.
James Cobb has worked out of his studio in Norman, Oklahoma for the last two decades. His work is executed in oil when painting and charcoal and conté when drawing. He attempts to paint from life and hosts a life drawing session every week for artists around the state. Cobb tries to stay true to the subject but is increasingly adding abstractions to his work. He paints all subject matter from still-life, to landscapes, portraiture, and figures.
