NOTES: A superb impressionist oil painting of highland cattle feeding from a circular trough in a Scottish winter scene.
John Halliday was born and died just doors apart from one another in the artist colony of Kirrcudbright. He studied at the Glasgow School of Art in 1949 and in his final year won two Royal Scottish Academy Awards. Halliday had numerous exhibitions over the years including a final solo show at the Fine Art Society Edinburgh in 2020. John passed away at his home in Kircudbright in 2021.
