Joseph "Joe" Yeager (American, 20th Century) was raised in Cleveland Ohio, where he went to art school at night and started his art career at 19. He was a commercial artist for the Cleveland Press for seven years, and then worked as the paper’s art director for another seven. In the army, he was a technical research illustrator for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics. He later moved to Medina, Ohio in 1941 and opened Joe Yeager Industrial Design in 1947. He also taught advanced perspective at the Cleveland School of Art.

Born in Upland, California, Tom Craig became a landscape, portrait and figure painter whose early career was in illustration but whose later focus was fine-art painting. He became a major figure in The California Style* of watercolor painting.
As a young student, Craig studied botany at the University of California at Berkeley, and living in Los Angeles, continued botanical studies at Pomona College. With a persistent interest in art, he studied briefly at Chouinard Art Institute* with Stanton Macdonald-Wright, Millard Sheets and Barse Miller.
In 1928, when he was 21, he got tuberculosis, and for his health, moved for several years to Palm Springs, California for the dry desert climate. During this period, he became a serious fine-art painter, and returning to Los Angeles, studied with Frank Tolles Chamberlain and Clarence Hinkle...

IVAN SUMMERS, 1889-1964, was an important American Impressionist artist whose home was in Woodstock NY for most of his life, but his painting and teaching career included many extended stays on the east and west coasts, as well as the south, southwest and midwest.
Born in Illinois, he studied at the St. Louis School of Fine Arts for four years beginning in 1910, and won three awards in the St Louis Art Guild Exhibitions 1914-1919 plus a prize in the Art Students League, NYC, in 1916.
His summer studies in Woodstock began around 1913, and he was able to finance his early years through commissions for World War I officers' portraits and medical journal illustrations. By 1918 he was a member of the Salmagundi Club and moved to New Hope PA. He soon bought property in Woodstock, where he settled and married artist Theresa Jessel Jones in 1920. He became an instructor and by 1930-31 the Director at the ASL's Summer School at Woodstock, with winter visits to Florida and teaching positions also at the Kansas City Art Institute in 1925 and the Charleston SC...
