The work depicts a beautiful and serene mountain landscape, figurative and realistic in a painterly style, with the snow-capped peak and wooded slopes corresponding to Miraflores de la Sierra, Madrid.
Framed with a beautiful carved and gilded Baroque-style wooden frame, rich in scrolls, the interior separates the work with a double frame and an elegant sand-colored linen passe-partout.
Juan Francisco Toro de Juanas was born in 1931. He is a Spanish painter working within the figurative and hyperrealist style, a disciple of Manuel Benedicto, who in turn was a disciple of Sorolla.
He has been described as the greatest portraitist of our time; among his portraits are those of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia. On a foundation that expresses a mastery of intense and profound drawing,
the work is enriched with a serene and measured palette, seeking to capture reality in its deepest aspect.
