About the Item
Framed Size - 73 x 73 cm
Inspired by the stunning Jurassic coastline and the rolling hills of Somerset and
Dorset, Katie Brent works expressively with a variety of mediums: oils, acrylic,
mixed media and aquatint printing. First taking photographs or sketching
directly ‘en situ’ to depict a particular moment in time and atmosphere.
More recently Katie has been inspired by botanical scenes; in her garden in
summertime, RHS Wisley and the splendour of the Hauser and Wirth Garden
in Bruton, designed by Piet Oudolf. “I am drawn to the wonder of nature that
surrounds me, I never tire of it, and seek to capture the atmosphere and
splendor of it. It is a constant source of inspiration.”
Upon completing a degree in graphic design and illustration at Central St.
Martins School of Art and Design, then a Postgraduate Certificate in Education;
Katie worked as an artist and muralist in London, then as a freelance artist for
an art consultancy, her commissions featuring around the globe.

Katie Brent
Inspired by the stunning Jurassic coastline and the rolling hills of Somerset and Dorset, Katie Brent’s artwork explores a sense of place, rhythm, and atmosphere. Working expressively with a wide range of media, including oils, acrylics, mixed media, and aquatint printing, her process often begins with photography or on-site sketching to capture the energy and feeling of a specific moment in time. Katie's practice has evolved to embrace botanical inspiration, particularly drawn from the changing life in her own garden during summertime. Her recent work reflects visits to celebrated green spaces such as RHS Wisley and the Hauser
Wirth Garden in Bruton, designed by Piet Oudolf. These environments fuel her fascination with natural growth, layered textures, and the quiet power of colour and light. “I’m drawn to the wonder of nature that surrounds me,” she explains. “I never tire of it and always try to capture the atmosphere and splendour in my work. It’s a constant source of inspiration.” Katie studied Graphic Design and Illustration at Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design, where she developed a strong foundation in composition and visual storytelling. She later earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, and spent her early career working as a muralist in London, producing large-scale works for private and commercial clients. Following this, she worked as a freelance artist for an art consultancy, creating commissioned pieces that are now held in collections around the world. Her work is known for its tactile surface quality, vibrant energy, and ability to express the subtle emotional weight of landscapes and natural forms. Today, Katie continues to explore the intersection between external environment and internal response, often painting intuitively, allowing the rhythm of the brushstroke to echo the movement of wind through grass, the shifting light of a coastline, or the soft complexity of layered petals. Whether in landscape or botanical work, her paintings invite the viewer to pause, observe, and reconnect with the quiet beauty of the natural world.

Crazy Garden, Semi Abstract Floral Art, Vibrant Landscape Painting, Still Life
By Rosemary Farrer
Located in Deddington, GB
Crazy Garden is an original painting by Rosemary Farrer. The final painting in a series this evokes the moment when every plant is at its peak, in full exuberant growth. Tropical and other worldly in feel, magic realism in an English garden.
Discover more of Rosemary Farrer's original artwork with Wychwood Art online and in our Oxfordshire gallery. Rosemary paints in oils and also makes original prints. The prints are in no way copies of the paintings, they are conceived of, and made, as a response to the special and wonderful effects that can be achieved only through the various techniques of printmaking, whether it be the graphic, dynamic marks of a linocut, or the subtle tones and textures achievable in aquatint and etching. Design, composition and the use of colour are what excite her. She spends a lot of time drawing and painting outside, back in the studio, she will distil these ideas into strong graphic woodcuts, and linos or subtly textured etchings. Recent monotypes draw together the threads of her different media, with their graphic shapes and rich painterly colours. She studied fine art at Camberwell School of Art and The Ruskin School of Drawing, and learned printmaking at Morley College [London]. She has exhibited prints...
