About the Item
A finely detailed painting of a barn by American artist Kenneth Davies (1925-2017). Davies was born in New Bedford, MA, and he attended the Massachusetts School of Art in Boston, and after two years in the Army, studied at the Yale School of Fine Arts, graduating with a B.F.A. in 1950. His teaching career began at the Whitney School of Art and continued at the Paier School in New Haven, Connecticut where he served as Dean. Davies became a noted still-life painter, with a particular interest in trompe l'oeil.
Oil on panel, signed lower right, titled and dated on verso label “Guilford Barn, 1970,” and housed in a molded wooden frame with linen lined inset with gilt accent. Dimensions: 36.38 in H x 29.25 in W, actual; 41.75 in H x 35 in W x 1.25 in D. Ref: 8
