About the Item
An oil on board view of the port of St Tropez in the South of France. The painting is initial signed bottom right as yet undeciphered. presented in a reeded wood frame with a cut card mount with watercolour decoration and a location title top middle.
An iconic view of the town and bay of St Tropez. The artist has taken the vista from the high point by the Citadel with the bell tower and terracotta tiled roofs stretching out below. The blue azure waters of the bay and in the distance the port of St Maxime. In the centre giving shade to the scene is a towering 'Pin Parasol' a notable tree of the region. The artist has captured the lush greens of the foliage and undergrowth against the blue of sea and sky. A perfect marine scene captured on a perfect summer's day.
