Lee Tiller has developed quite a reputation for his ability to capture the effects of light on the landscape, and in particular using the contre-jour effect of light through the canopies and leaves of trees. His impressionist style harks back to that of the 19th Century French impressionists, a style that he claims formed the pinnacle of artistic expression. In 'Tapestry of light (October gold)' we see the full richness of his 'broken colour' technique. The viewer experiences the genuine sensation of both time and place, and is left feeling a sense of tranquility and emotional calm.
