About the Item
Pair of paintings made by Venetian artist Luigi Scarpa Croce (Venice 1901-1967), dated around the late 1950s. Both works have as their subject landscapes traceable to the Veneto hills. The two works, while maintaining small dimensions, show different techniques and media: one is executed in oil on a wooden board, while the other is painted with the same technique on a compressed cardboard support, a material often used in those years for study or research works. In both compositions the colors are bright, crisp, and luminous, with a clear predominance of green hues rendered through dense, full-bodied brushstrokes. The two paintings are signed by the author on the front: one bears his signature on the lower left, the other on the lower right.
